Congratulations are in order for comedian Artie Lange, who revealed on Twitter this week that he's just marked seven and a half months of sobriety.

The comic looks worlds different from what he looked like just last year, sporting a fresh haircut and noticeably thinner frame. Although his nose has suffered damage from years of substance abuse, Lange's healthy-looking appearance and upbeat message quickly racked up positive responses from fans, friends and a number of famous faces.

"Great to be home! 7 months 14 days sober but one day at a time," Lange, 51, wrote. "Lots of new stories to tell. Will announce some new tour dates on Friday. Thanks for the support. Love you all."

"You look great, man. Amazing work," one fan responded, while another tweeted, "Way to go, Artie."

The contrast between the photo and one of Lange's past selfies is startling: "3 decades of drug abuse," he wrote alongside the December 2018 photo.

Among the 40,000 people (and counting) to "like" Lange's post were Judd Apatow, who in 2017 brought Lange onto the HBO show "Crashing" to play a scripted version of himself. The on-screen Lange also battled drug addiction, once telling

The post also received a "like" from Jimmy Kimmel, a friend of Lange's who is also close with Howard Stern. Lange rose to fame as a radio personality on Stern's namesake show, and his substance abuse issues were reportedly the driving factor in the demise of both the friendship and the working relationship.

Lange has fought his way through years of personal and legal turmoil, his rehab stays interspersed with intermittent arrests and violations. He has spoken and written candidly about his multiple suicide attempts and depression.
