LA CROSSE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – When I first started this series, I thought I would model it after a podcast I enjoy named “The Three Questions with Andy Richter.” The premise is long-time comedic actor, Andy Richter, who sits down with artists of all sorts to ask 3 questions; Where do you come from? Where are you going? What have you learned? The only problem with my plan is that I don’t fully know what I am doing and don’t have a team of people below me keeping the tasks at hand on target.

So, here we are, nearing the end of February, and I have no idea what Dylan Overhouse has learned… because I didn’t ask him. I don’t know where he is going… other than to say he wants to shoot a short film. I know he is from around La Crosse and likes showing off this area in the different and beautiful ways he sees it.

What I can say with certainty is that the Coulee Region as a whole is a better place with the art of Dylan Overhouse being made in its midst. I can go on and on about what I enjoy about his work, or what I see in it, but that is subjective. You may not see what I see or appreciate what I appreciate. What we can agree on is that Dylan has honed his skills and elevated his craft to such a level that he is sought out by musicians from all over the upper Midwest to shoot videos for them. He has been integral to the growth and success of a real-life cooking show that has caught the attention of the culinary world. Public entities have recognized him for capturing the lives we live in the Coulee Region. His photos have hung in galleries, civic buildings, private homes, commercial spaces and everywhere in between. He makes art that people respond to, and he is ours.

If you haven’t seen any of his works in person, or with your own eyes without the layer of fog that is a computer screen, please do so. If you are at a local venue, catching whatever style of music happens to be pumping through the speakers, and you see a slight man taking pictures of the band and their feet and the way the crowd is pulsating to what they are doing… say hi and thank him for the pictures, the moments and for making La Crosse Wisconsin look as astounding as it is.
