Makthaverskan

Swedish post-punk group Makthaverskan is due to set out on a tour of the US in March and has a 7" on the way to mark the occasion.

Who?
Makthaverskan is Maja Milner, Irma Krook, Andreas "palle" Wettmark, Gustav Data Andersson and Hugo Randulv -- five musicians hailing from Gothenberg, Sweden, who make dark, post-punk-inspired dream pop led by Milner's powerful vocals.

Why the buzz?
Makthaverskan have enjoyed a growing fanbase since their 2009 self-titled debut album, and newest track "Witness" has seen them hit the top ten on music blog aggregator the Hype Machine.

"With an intro that sounds like a post-punk version of The Offspring's 'Change the World' or The Rolling Stones' 'Paint It Black,' 'Witness' is all furious drumming, razor-sharp guitars, and the cathartic howls of singer Maja Milner," sais BrooklynVegan.

Pitchfork called "Witness" "the strongest example to date of what [Milner's] voice is capable of," writing, "As always, she's a powerhouse, but rarely has her voice sounded so monolithic. This is Makthaverskan's zone -- they write a strong hook and make it exponentially stronger when each musician makes their piece as big and dramatic as possible."

What to listen to?
"Witness" is available via iTunes and Bandcamp (along with a host of other releases), with a vinyl due out March 3 in Europe and April 18 in North America.

Where to see?
The band has a more than 20-date US tour planned for March and April, including stops in New York, LA and Chicago. Follow them on Facebook for future announcements.
