Arts, Beats & Eats just gave away $332K in charitable donations

The 2022 edition of Arts, Beats & Eats will mark the festival's 25th year and its 13th in Royal Oak.

Arts, Beats and Eats generated $332,732 in charitable donations during this year's festival, organizers announced Tuesday.

It's the biggest Labor Day festival in the state, with 365,000 people attending in 2022, making it the fifth-most attended in the event’s 25-year history. This year's performers included Flo Rida, Fitz & The Tantrums, 311, and Sponge.

Funds were generated from a cut of admission proceeds, beverage sales, on-site donations and community initiatives. Since its inception, the festival has donated more than $6.8 million to charitable organizations, the release said.

“We saw a remarkable turnout by the community for Arts, Beats & Eats’ milestone year, while also providing tremendous financial support to a variety of community and charitable organizations, as well as for the City of Royal Oak and Oakland County,” said Jon Witz, festival producer, in the release. "Festivalgoers experienced an unlimited amount of live musical entertainment while enjoying an incredible lineup of food from dozens of restaurants, food trucks, and caters, artwork from top artists from across the country, and loads of family fun. We thank all of our partners for their roles in helping to make this year’s event a success.”

In addition to the monetary donations, festival patrons could donate three or more canned goods for a discount on admission to the festival. The drive yielded 1,670 pounds of food collected to be distributed to those experiencing food insecurity across the region through a partnership with Flagstar Bank Food Drive and Forgotten Harvest.

The donations were handed out Tuesday at the Royal Oak Centennial Commons Park.
