Arts Festival returns to Utica in July. How to submit work for juried Sidewalk Art Show

Area artists are invited to submit their work to be considered as part of the upcoming Sidewalk Art Show in Utica.

The 2022 Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute Arts Festival runs Tuesday, July 12 through Sunday, July 17. The festival's highlight attraction, the Sidewalk Art Show, features more than 200 works by local artists in a colorful array of media.

Works for the Sidewalk Art Show juried exhibition may be submitted from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, June 17 and Saturday, June 18 at the Museum of Art. Not every work submitted will be placed on view. One work may be submitted by each artist.

The exhibition is open to artists 18 and older residing within a 40-mile radius of Utica. Students in grades 9 through 12 during the 2021-22 school year and reside within a 40-mile radius of Utica may enter their work to be judged with work by other high school students. This is a separate category from the adult group but the same conditions apply.

Paintings, photographs, prints, drawings, computer-generated art and small sculptures will be accepted. No crafts, films or videos. All works must be securely framed. Watercolors, drawings, prints and photographs must be framed under plexiglass. Maximum outer dimensions, including frame, are 44 inches high by 48 inches wide by 2 inches deep. Maximum sculpture dimensions are 24 by 24 by 24 inches.

Artwork may be offered for sale at the artist's request. All sales are conducted by the Munson-Williams Museum Shop for a 40% commission.

Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute is at 310 Genesee St. in Utica. Registration is free to Munson-Williams members, high school students and SNAP/EBT card holders. For all others, a nonrefundable registration fee of $15 is payable by cash, check or credit card online at mwpai.org.
