Ascension St. Thomas 'Medical Mission at Home' event to offer free medical care Saturday

Ascension Saint Thomas, in partnership with a variety of medical providers, will offer free health care services and screenings to residents of Davidson and surrounding counties on Saturday at The Nashville Fairgrounds.

This "Medical Mission at Home" event had been on hiatus because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Free medical care

Providers will offer free medical, dental, behavioral health, hearing and vision care services. Some prescriptions will be provided at no cost between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. No insurance is required, and language interpreters will be available. The first 200 registrants can request specific time slots at this link. All others will receive care on a first-come, first-served basis.

What is the program?

Ascension Saint Thomas is working in partnership with a variety of organizations to provide these medical services. Medical Mission at Home events have served more than 25,000 Tennesseans since 2008, according to the organization.

Volunteers include physicians, nurses, pharmacists, chaplains and other members of the Ascension Saint Thomas community. Participating organizations include: Catholic Charities of TN, Conexión, Hispanic Family Foundation, Hope Smiles, Kroger, Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Center, Metro Nashville Public Health Department, Metropolitan Social Services, New Beginnings, One Generation, Premier Radiology, Results Physiotherapy, Room in the Inn, Siloam, Soles for Souls, Tennessee Family and Children’s Services, Tennessee Health Care Campaign and the Tennessee Justice Center.

How to get there

The event will be open between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Nashville Fairgrounds, 625 Smith Ave. in Nashville. Parking is available at the Nashville Fairgrounds Expo Center. Drivers arriving at the entrance off Nolensville Pike should follow the Medical Mission at Home parking signs.

Metro WeGo buses will also offer free bus fare to the Medical Mission. Bus riders should tell their drivers they are going to the Ascension Saint Thomas Medical Mission at the Nashville Fairgrounds Expo Center.
