Asheville-area man indicted, arrested for felony death by vehicle in woman's 2022 death

A Weaverville man was arrested June 26 after being indicted by a grand jury for felony death by vehicle while driving in September 2022, according to a letter of indictment obtained by the Citizen Times June 26.

Victor Meadows, 31, who was wanted on an open warrant for the incident, was taken into custody by Asheville Police in the early morning hours of June 26, according to a June 27 news release from the Asheville Police Department. Back in September 2022, Meadows was driving a vehicle on State Road 1309, Dix Creek No. 1 Road, a highway west of Asheville, when he “unintentionally caused the death of Lisa Hollifield while engaged in the offense of impaired driving,” according to an APD arrest warrant.

Hollifield, 61, died on Sept. 13, 2022, from injuries sustained in the wreck, according to her obituary. Hollifield was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County and a graduate of Asheville High School. Having gone by the nickname “Buck,” Hollifield was an award-winning swimmer and a caregiver to everyone, who loved riding motorcycles and “could fix anything,” according to her online obituary. Her partner of over 43 years, Albert Franklin, died nearly six months before the accident.

The Citizen Times reached out to Hollifield's family, but they were unavailable for comment before press time.
