Ashland City Schools eye technology-focused staff development week

Ashland City Schools Board of Education Monday, Sept. 26, meeting

KEY ACTION Heard a report from Deputy Superintendent Linda McKibben about the district's professional development week to be held Oct. 10-14.

DISCUSSION Business Manager and Interim Superintendent Steve Paramore said typically, it's not a week-long event. Staff and administration have been planning this program for months. Professional development will focus on new technology, data gathering and assessment strategies.

Staff will also hear from George Couros, an educator, administrator and author who met with the district last year and who, according to his biography, is known for his leadership in facilitating the use of technology.

Couros will address how technology can improve instruction, as well as relationships among school district staff members and the community; and how it can challenge the status quo in the classroom, Paramore said.

Representatives from other school districts will also take part in the Ashland district's professional development.
