Ashland County Fair royal court: Five young women, two young men vie for titles

The Ashland County Fair begins Sunday and runs through Saturday, Sept. 24. Five girls will compete for queen and two boys will vie for king. The contestants are:

Baylee Weber, 17, of Loudonville is the daughter of Mike and Belinda Weber and a student at Hillsdale High School and the Career Center. She is a member of the Hillsdale FFA, Hilltop 4-Her’s Club, Kindness Club, Jr. Fair Board, the Hillsdale High School girls basketball team, and will be exhibiting a market turkey, market lamb, and breeding sheep. Baylee plans to attend North Central State College for nursing.

Alexus Evans

Alexus Evans, 17, of Ashland is the daughter of Ruth Evans and Bill Patznick. She is a student at the Ashland County West Holmes Career Center in the cosmetology program, a member of the Ashland FFA, Jr. Fair Board, Parliamentary Procedure team, Livestock Judging team, Meat Judging team, Job Interview, Soiling Judging team, and will be exhibiting market goats. Alexus plans to attend an undecided college/university at this time.

Kendall Ramey, 15, of Polk is the daughter of Josh and Kim Ramey. She is a student at Mapleton High School where she is a Distinguished Honor Roll student, a Firelands Conference all Conference 1st Team Academic Award winner, a Mapleton FFA officer, The This and That 4-H club president, Mapleton softball and soccer teams letterman, and she will be exhibiting market lambs, market goats, and breeding sheep. Kendall plans to become a special education teacher and attend an undetermined college/university at this time.

Scarlett Wilhelm, 17, of Ashland is the daughter of Dan and Kristi Wilhelm. She is an Academic Scholar and Scholar Athlete at Ashland High School, a varsity track and E-sports team member, Art National Honor Society member, Academic Challenge District Team champion, high school orchestra and chamber orchestra member, Paradise Hill Guys & Gals 4-H Club president, Jr. Fair Board secretary, and she will be exhibiting market dairy goats, dairy goats, and market rabbits. Scarlett plans to attend The Ohio State University to become an Anesthesiologist.

Sage Runion, 16, of Ashland is the daughter of David and Lara Runion. She is an Honor Roll student at the Ashland County West Holmes Career Center, an Ashland High School FFA Officer and Star Chapter Degree recipient, Land Evaluation/General Livestock/Vet Science and Parliamentary Procedure team member, Jr. Fair Board co-president, a Barker Bunch 4-H Club member, and will be exhibiting goats, market dairy goats, and ear corn at the fair. Sage plans to attend OSU/ATI to become an Ecologist.

Connor Mellor
Connor Mellor

Connor Mellor, 17, of Loudonville is the son of Alan Mellor and the late Terri Mellor. He is a student at Loudonville High School, a member of the Hilltop 4-Her’s Club, Loudonville Livestock Club, Loudonville FFA, Jr. Fair Board, and he will be exhibiting a market hog, ear corn, and hay at the fair. Connor’s future career plans are undetermined at this time.

Reed Twining
Reed Twining

Reed Twining, 16, of Loudonville is the son of Ryan and Renee Twining. He is an Honor Roll student and Scholar Athlete at Hillsdale High School, a Recognition for  Outstanding Achievement Award winner in Geometry, a J.S. Miller Award winner in Unified Physical Sciences, a Recognition for Courage in the Classroom award winner, Hillsdale High School FFA Officer and Outstanding Member Award winner, a member of the FFA Trap Shooting Team, Tops Shots Shooting Sports team, Hillsdale High School football team, Hilltop 4-Her’s Club, Jr. Fair Board, and he will be exhibiting dairy heifers and a market hog. Reed plans to attend either UNOH or OTC to become an ag mechanic.
