Ashland County Genealogy Society earns state Chapter of the Year award, and three others

ASHLAND − The Ashland County Genealogy Society received four awards at the 2023 Ohio Genealogy Society Conference at the Kalahari Resort in Sandusky.

The chapter received the OGS Chapter of the Year Award, Frances Dana Gage Award-Outstanding OGS Chapter Newsletter Award, Thomas A. Edison Award-Outstanding OGS Website Award and the US Grant Award (Finding/Research Aids).

"This Chapter has so many dedicated members who volunteer hundreds of hours to make the Ashland County Chapter great," President Tammy Sloan Pelton said. "I am grateful on how much hard work and dedication goes into this chapter. I was deeply humbled to accept these awards on behalf of all of the Ashland County members and volunteers. They are the people who deserve this recognition. Preserving your family heritage can be a rewarding and contagious hobby. I recommend anyone who has the urge to get started to reach out to us or visit one of our free meetings."
