Ashland Elks donates funds to the Ashland Fire Service to buy vacuum splints

Ashland Elks 1360 presented a check on Friday to purchase new vacuum splints for the Ashland Fire Service, according to a news release from the Ashland Elks.

The money was obtained through the Ohio Elks Association community service grant, said the release, which added that the grant earmarks $18,000 annually to be used to purchase equipment for local municipalities and community first responders.

In total six splints in different sizes were purchased. Vacuum splints are critical for trauma-related injuries including joint dislocations, subluxations and fractures in the arms and legs, according to the release.
