Ashland pair charged in infant OD

Jan. 19—ASHLAND — An Ashland man and woman are facing child abuse charges after an 11-month-old baby suffered from a drug overdose, according to the Ashland Police Department.

The baby is alive and is safe with a family member, according to social media posts on APD's Facebook page.

Brandon Jackson, 47, is charged with first-degree criminal abuse (of a child 12 or under) and Amanda Jackson, 30, is charged with second-degree criminal abuse (of a child 12 or under).

APD's patrol division initially responded to a residence on Sunday, Jan. 14. The 11-month-old was unresponsive.

Boyd County EMS transported the child to King's Daughters Medical Center, where EMS and KDMC staff determined the infant was suffering from an overdose caused by fentanyl and other opiates.

APD detectives conducted extensive interviews an identified substantial evidence, leading to the arrests.

According to APD, the investigation is ongoing with more charges expected to follow.

According to the Boyd County jail website, both were booked into the Boyd County Detention Center on Jan. 15. Brandon Jackson's bond is set at $25,000. Amanda Jackson's is at $10,000.
