Ashland school board hears construction update: District rids buildings of asbestos

Ashland City Schools Board of EducationMonday, Oct. 24, meeting

KEY ACTION The board heard an update on construction projects in the district.

DISCUSSION With completion of asbestos removal at Taft Intermediate School, the entire district is asbestos-free, said Steve Paramore, business manager who will become the interim superintendent in January, following the meeting.

The district track is being replaced, and a recent ribbon-cutting was held at the renovated entrance of the stadium with donors Bob and Jan Archer and Lloyd and Norma Wygant and members of the Ashland High School marching band and football team all present.

A storage building adjacent to the teachers' parking lot at the high school will be used by the maintenance, athletic, music and technology departments. It will help with decluttering, as did the Oct. 8 auction, Paramore said.

The high school is in the fourth phase of renovations in which some exterior windows and doors will be replaced as materials are available between now and the summer months.
