Ashland United Way names Volunteer of the Year, 2024 campaign chairs
ASHLAND − The United Way of Ashland County conducted its 65th annual meeting held at Mount Vernon Estates on Thursday, April 6.
New board officers were installed: Nicole Hawks, president; Todd Geren, past president and Chris Bevington, treasurer. Retiring board members Rod Cheney, Jeremy Harrison, Dennis Miller and Dan Lawson were thanked for their commitment and passion for United Way’s mission.
Two members, Ryan Emmons and Todd Geren, are renewing terms. Incoming board members were presented and approved, including Kailey Bradley, Carrie Gough, Neil Hinkle and Rob Klenk.
Stacy Schiemann presented the J. Robert Tipton Volunteer of the Year award to Geren.
Geren has served two terms on the United Way board and has volunteered to serve a third, Schiemann said.
"Todd has provided consistency and stability to the board while navigating through a small thing called a pandemic," a news release from United Way states. "He gives guidance, but also allows room for our staff to lead."
Geren also served as 2019 campaign chair with his wife, Krissy, and he has remained a part of the campaign team in subsequent years.
"We are forever grateful to the time, energy, talent, and commitment he has lent to us during his time with United Way," Schiemann said in the release.
Dan and Lynne Lawson, 2023 campaign chairs concluded the meeting with their reflections on the campaign and thanked the community for all of their hard work in helping to exceed the $850,000 goal. Campaign Pacesetters raised $336,705. In total, $858,842 was raised for the 2023 campaign.
The top 20 entities helping to achieve the goal are, in order: Centerra, PCA, BCU electric, Ashland University, UH Samaritan Medical Center, Chandler Systems Inc., Lake Erie Frozen Foods, Charles River Labs, Ashland City Schools, Park National Bank, Abbott Retirees and Alumni, Whitcomb & Hess, Cowen Truck Line, Brethren Care Village, Coldwell Banker Ward Real Estate, Donley Ford of Ashland, Appleseed Community Mental Health Center, Comfort Control, Spire Advertising, Bendon, Inc.
Casey and Kelly Cooke were introduced as the 2024 campaign chairs.
