Ashland's Jon Metzger named Times-Gazette Offensive Player of the Year

Offensive Player of the Year

Jon Metzger, Ashland. The senior wideout hauled in 67 passes for 1,312 yards and 13 touchdowns to set the single-season receiving yards record at AHS. He also finished with an AHS career-best 160 receptions and set the career receiving yards record with 2,539.

Coach of the Year

Steve Haverdill, Crestview. Haverdill led the Cougars to both back-to-back undefeated seasons and Firelands Conference championships with a record of 12-1 in 2022.

First Team

QB- Ethan Siders, Northwestern. Siders finished with 2,651 passing yards and 28 touchdown passes and also rushed for 412 yards in 2022.

QB- Brandon Mitchell, South Central. Finished the year strong with 2,089 passing yards and 27 TDs while rushing for 489 yards.

RB- Addison Reymer, Crestview. Reymer averaged 7.1 YPC on 196 rushes for 1,395 yards and scored 20 touchdowns.

RB- Collin Good, Northwestern. Good finished with 1,040 yards on 182 carries good for a 5.7 YPC.

RB- Luke Pryor, Mapleton. Pryor ran for 694 yards and scored nine touchdowns to help the Mounties rush for 2,880 yards as a team.

WR- Isaac Blair, S. Central. Blair had 92 receptions and 1,153 yards. He scored 19 touchdowns with a long of 47 yards.

WR- Landon McFrederick, Ashland. The senior WR finished with 1,100 all-purpose yards that included 99 yards rushing and 903 receiving yards.

WR- Craig Reed, Northwestern. Reed averaged 13.1 yards per catch on 64 receptions for 878 yards and spearheaded a potent Huskies attack.

WR- Zach Frankford, Loudonville. Frankford hauled in 59 passes for 709 yards and four TDs and was also a key blocker at his position for the Birds.

OL - Bryston Martin, Ashland senior left tackle. Martin had 12 pancakes for Arrows team that totaled 4,462 yards on offense.

OL- Mason Ringler, Crestview senior. Ringler posted a 97% blocking percentage and had 21 pancake blocks. He was a Firelands Conference First Team Offensive Guard, FC Offensive Lineman of the Year and First Team Northwest District 6 Offensive Lineman.

OL- Caleb Cunningham, Crestview junior. Cunningham finished with a 95% blocking percentage and 26 pancake blocks. He was a Firelands Conference First Team Offensive Tackle and was a Northwest District District 6 Second Team Offensive Linemen.

OL - Aiden Wolford, Loudonville senior. Wolford finished with 33 pancake blocks to help lead a solid Redbirds offense.

OL - Sheldon Hartzler, Mapleton senior. Hartzler had a 92% blocking grade and was a leader up front for an offense that rushed for 2,880 yards.

K- Devin Holloway, Crestview. Holloway made four field goals and converted 47 extra points for the Cougars.
