A new Asian fusion spot, offering poke and more, has debuted in the neighborhood. Located at 8539 N. Lombard St. in St.Johns, the newcomer is called Sol Bowl.
Sol Bowl serves up bibimbap with a medley of vegetables, a specialty spicy gochujang sauce and a choice of slow-roasted pork, smoked chicken or braised tofu. The menu also features poke with seasoned fish or tofu, alongside vegetables and fair-trade jasmine rice.
The newcomer has gotten an enthusiastic response thus far, with a 4.5-star rating out of 11 reviews on Yelp.
Madeline M., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on Jan. 9, wrote, "A very welcome addition to St. Johns. I came here with my fiancé and we both ordered the bibimbap with tofu, it was delicious. We devoured it. The veggies were crisp and the sauce was very flavorful. The rice had a great texture and when you let it sit in the piping hot stone bowl, it gets nice and crispy."
Yelper Alex Y. added, "Staff is amazing, and the food is spectacular. Seriously never had a poke bowl this good. Layers of incredible flavor. Simple yet explosive with taste. This place is a must."
