Asian mother killed, 12-year-old son wounded in San Diego shooting
A 31-year-old mother was killed during a shooting in San Diego’s Lincoln Park neighborhood on Saturday morning.
The fatal incident, which also left Sengny Chea’s 32-year-old husband and 12-year-old son wounded, reportedly occurred at around 2:19 a.m. behind an apartment complex in the 300 block of South Willie James Jones Avenue.
Chea’s upper body was shot several times, and she was pronounced dead at the scene. Her husband sustained non-life-threatening injuries to his face and body, while her son suffered a wound in his right leg. The two male victims were brought to the hospital, and the San Diego Police Department has noted that their names will not be publicly disclosed.
Alex Galvan, 22, was arrested and booked on suspicion of murder, attempted murder and possession of an unregistered firearm. The authorities discovered a gunshot wound to his wrist while searching for a weapon that could have been used during the shooting.

Abraham Galvan, 24, reportedly accompanied Galvan and was booked for assault with force, possession of an assault weapon and violation of probation. A third man, believed to be in his late 20s or early 30s, fled the scene and is now a person of interest.
Police suspect the three men took part in a physical altercation with Chea’s husband before his wife and son found them in the parking area.
The two arrested suspects have been called to appear before the Central Division Felony Court on Wednesday.
