Asian woman kicked in the hip, told to ‘get out of this country’ in NYC attack

An Asian woman allegedly received xenophobic remarks and was kicked in the hip during an unprovoked attack in New York City’s Chelsea neighborhood on Tuesday.

The incident reportedly occurred on West 16th St. near 10th Avenue in Chelsea at around 5:15 a.m. on Tuesday, police said.

The assailant confronted the 57-year-old victim while she was walking outside Western Beef Supermarket and yelled, "Get out of this country, bitch," according to reports. He then allegedly kicked the unnamed victim in the hip and fled the scene on foot.

The victim reportedly did not need medical assistance following the alleged attack as no serious injuries were reported.

Authorities released an image on Wednesday, hoping to identify the suspect. The NYPD has also offered a reward of up to $3,500.

The alleged incident happened a day before a man was indicted on two counts of third-degree assault as a hate crime and two counts of second-degree aggravated harassment on Wednesday for attacking two women of Korean descent at a subway station in May.

A similar incident was reported in Chelsea last year when a man was accused of kicking a woman and yelling anti-Asian slurs at her before pulling out a knife.
