Assailant kills man sitting in car on Queens streetcorner

A man was fatally shot in an explosion of gunfire as he sat in a car on a Queens streetcorner Sunday night, police said.

Dejuan Brown, 24, was sitting inside a Nissan Maxima on 200th St. at 111th Ave. in St. Albans when someone peppered the car with bullets about 8:15 p.m., cops said.

Four shots punched through the windshield. Brown was hit several times, cops said.

Medics rushed him to Jamaica Hospital, but he couldn’t be saved.

Brown lived about a mile away from the crime scene, police said.

One neighbor, who didn’t give her name, said she was standing in her kitchen when the barrage of bullets was fired. “I heard what I thought was fireworks,” she said.

Several neighbors rushed onto the scene, and police were interviewing a woman nearby, she said.

Cops were initially looking for a black Jeep Grand Cherokee that drove away on 200th St.

Police sources said Brown has two prior gun possession arrests. He was released to parole in March 2020, after he was sentenced to three-and-a-half years behind bars for attempted weapon possession in 2017, public records show.
