Assault leaves teen with life-threatening injuries

A man was left with life-threatening injuries after a serious assault, police said.

Officers were called to Avon Road in Chelmsford at 20:25 BST on Tuesday, where they found an 18-year-old man badly injured.

He was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to hospital.

Essex Police appealed for anyone with doorbell or dashcam footage that could help the investigation to get in touch.

A spokesperson said emergency services would remain in Avon Road and a nearby field "for several hours" after the incident.
