Assessing the state of poverty in America

The gap between the haves and have-nots grew last year to its highest level in more than 50 years according to the U.S. Census bureau. This comes at a time when two presidential hopefuls are pitching a “wealth tax” to close the gap and open a new front in the 50 year old war on poverty.
