An Assistant Principal’s Affair With a Student was Kept Under Wraps by the Principal

Snitches get stitches the last laugh. A gym teacher at William Cullen Bryant High School in Queens, New York who got disciplined for ratting out an affair between an assistant principal and a student is getting the last laugh after the student in question has exposed the teacher as well as the principal for covering up the "twisted" affair.

The gym teacher, Peter Maliarakis, blew the lid off an affair between current assistant principal Pelagia Papoutsis and a student, but when the principal, Namita Dwarka, punished him for it, he didn’t let it go and created a closed Facebook group: Things You Never Knew About Bryant High School. A former student then got in contact with Maliarakis through Facebook and messaged him about an affair Papoutsis was having with her. According to the former student, whose identity is being kept secret, the inappropriate relationship began when she was 17-years-old and was a student in Papoutsis’ math class (back before she was assistant principal.)

Over a text conversation, the student told Maliarakis that Principal Dwarka knew about he situation but didn’t do anything to stop it. According to Maliarakis, the student told him the relationship happened during her senior year when she was 17 and it went on after her graduation.

Papoutsis has since been removed from her post. The affair is being investigated, and though Papoutsis may face charges, statutory rape won’t be one of them since New York law states 17 years old as the age of consent.
