New assistant principal announced for Aiken High School

Sep. 5—A new assistant principal has been announced for Aiken High School for the 2022-23 school year.

Joshua Snipes is a graduate of Aiken High School and is looking forward to returning to his alma matter, according to a press release from Aiken County Public School District. Snipes has a Bachelor of Arts in secondary and middle education from USC Aiken and a masters in educational administration from the University of South Carolina in Columbia.

He began teaching at South Aiken High School, and while there he was named the 2015-16 first year teacher of the year, according to the school district. During his time teaching, Snipes taught 9th through 12th grade advanced placement, honors, and college prep courses at SAHS and Aiken iNNOVATE. Classes he taught included AP human geography and AP psychology.

Snipes has a South Carolina Professional Certification and is certified as a 4.0 evaluator and CERRA mentor. He is also an Aiken Lead In participant, serves as a member of the Title Constituency Committee and Code of Conduct Committee for the school district, and is a lead mentor at the high school level.

Snipes will begin as the assistant principal in the fall.
