Association of Fundraising Professionals NEPA chapter announces luncheon

Oct. 6—WILKES-BARRE — The Association of Fundraising Professionals Northeastern Pennsylvania Chapter invites the community to its National Philanthropy Day Awards Luncheon.

The luncheon will be held at on Friday, Nov. 17, at 11 a.m., at The Woodlands Inn, 1073 Highway 315, Wilkes-Barre.

At the annual event, AFP NEPA Chapter honors individuals and organizations that demonstrate a tireless dedication to philanthropy. Award recipients are nominated for outstanding commitment and leadership in all aspects of philanthropy.

This year's winners are:

—Outstanding Fundraising Professional winner and F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts Executive Director Joell Yarmel, nominated by F.M. Kirby Center Board Member Tish Last.

—Outstanding Lifetime Achievement winner Lou Goeringer, nominated by Northeast Sight Services Director of Development Amy Feldman.

—Outstanding Philanthropist winner Tara Mugford Wilson, nominated by Greater Wyoming Valley Chamber of Commerce.

—Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser winner Jim Martin, nominated by Curator of the Luzerne County Sports Hall of Fame Museum Mary Jo Hromchak.

—Outstanding Foundation winner First Federal Charitable Foundation, nominated by The Luzerne Foundation.

—Outstanding Corporation winner Dunkin' NEPA Franchisees, nominated by Saint Joseph's Center.

—Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy winner Kamden Cunningham, nominated by Jennifer Rushton.

—Outstanding Small Business winner Abide Coffeehouse, nominated by Lackawanna College Director of College Advancement Amber Riedinger.

The 2023 Philanthropy Day chairs are Amber Riedinger and Saint Joseph's Center Foundation Director of Development Jo Ann Verduce.

"We are thrilled to continue the annual tradition of the AFP NEPA National Philanthropy Day Luncheon," Verduce said. "It's an honor to come together to recognize the commitment to philanthropy of the many generous individuals, businesses, organizations and corporations in our area. The event also allows fundraisers from various organizations to come together, connect with fellow professionals, and learn more about the NEPA Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals."

AFP NEPA Chapter is the regional chapter of Association of Fundraising Professionals, a global organization that upholds ethical standards and provides professional development for fundraisers at any career level.
