The woman shot and killed this past weekend outside an Akron movie theater has been identified as Atavia Robinson, 20, from Akron.

The Summit County Medical Examiner's Office on Tuesday said Robinson died from multiple gunshot wounds and her manner of death is homicide.

Robinson died after midnight Sunday when someone fired multiple shots in the parking lot of the Regal Independence, a movie theater at 1210 Independence Ave. in Akron's Chapel Hill neighborhood, police said.

A 22-year-old man also sustained several gunshot wounds, Akron police said.

Akron police as of Tuesday have not provided updates on their investigation.

Shooting suspects sought

Police said shortly after the shooting there was no description of a suspect or suspects. Police were said they were unsure of any relationship between the victims and whoever did the shooting.

The first 911 call came in at 11:58 p.m. Saturday, with a caller saying there were a lot of gunshots. A theater employee said he heard at least 20 gunshots in the parking lot after a movie let out.

Robinson was pronounced dead at Summa Akron City Hospital.

Social media posts mourning the death of the woman appeared online hours after the shooting. Robinson is pictured in posts as a Kenmore-Garfield High School graduate.
