Atco woman charged over fatal hit-and-run in Lindenwold

LINDENWOLD – Authorities have charged one motorist and are seeking another in connection with a deadly hit-and-run accident here.

Raquel M. Syvertson, 52, of Atco is accused of knowingly leaving the scene of a Dec. 8 accident that killed a pedestrian on the White Horse Pike, according to the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office.

The victim, 53-year-old Dal B. Baruwal, of Somerdale was struck on the 600 block of South White Horse Pike shortly before 5:45 p.m.

“During the investigation, detectives learned that two vehicles — a light-colored Tesla sedan and a dark-colored, small SUV, possibly a Buick Encore — were involved in the accident,” the prosecutor’s office said in a statement

Syvertson was driving the Tesla, it alleged.

Detectives are still seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the dark-colored SUV and its driver.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Prosecutor’s Detective Samuel Funches III at 856-397-4000 or funchess@ccprosecutor.org.

Tips can also be provided to Lindenwold Police Detective Jesus Bonilla at 856-784-7566 or jbonilla@Lindenwoldpd.com.

Syvertson surrendered to Lindenwold police on Dec. 21. She was issued a summons and released on her own recognizance.

The charge against Syvertson is only an allegation. She has not been convicted in the case.
