Parents of young children may have a special appreciation for the latest blend from one Georgia coffee-maker.

Athens-based Jittery Joe's partnered with Pete the Cat series creator James Dean to create Pete's Groovy Brew. The coffee is an "easy drinking, well-balanced medium roast, combining beans from Guatemala and Peru to produce one of the smoothest blends by Jittery Joe's," according to a news release.

"I never dreamed that there would be Pete the Cat coffee!" Dean said in the release. "It seems like the perfect match! I am very excited to partner with Jittery Joe's to bring Pete's Groovy Brew to fans of great coffee and blue cats."

Pete’s Groovy Brew can be purchased at jitteryjoes.com, Fresh Market, Kroger, Whole Foods and Savi Provisions, according to the release. A portion of proceeds will be donated to the American Library Association.

Dean, who is an Athens local, drew inspiration for Pete the Cat from his own cat (named Pete) who would try and drink Dean's coffee. Dean drew a cartoon of Pete and turned the character into a book series.

According to the Pete the Cat series website, Dean published his first book, The Misadventures of Pete the Cat, in 2006. Two years later, he illustrated his first self-published children’s book, Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes, which follows Pete on his adventures as he steps onto different things such as strawberries.

Pete the Cat has reached the top 10 of the New York Times' best seller list for picture books. There are now nearly 100 Pete the Cat books.
