SAYRE, Pa. (WETM) — An Athens man was arrested in Bradford County on Monday after police said he was violating a protection order and went into an apartment without permission.

According to Sayre Police, 40-year-old Nicholas A. Klishevich was arrested on Monday, Feb. 26, and was charged with burglary, a grade one felony, criminal trespass, a grade three felony, resisting arrests, a grade 2 misdemeanor, and a violation of a protection order.

The criminal complaint states that around 10 a.m. on Monday, police went to the 400 block of S Wildbur Ave in Sayre to serve a warrant on Klishevich. They were able to ping his ankle monitor to find him at the address where an active Protection From Violence (PFA) order was out against him. The order states that he isn’t allowed to be at the residence or near the person living in the apartment or their children.

Police were talking with the person living inside and when asked if they could look for Klishevich the resident prevented them from doing so and shut and locked the door several times in 17 minutes.

The report states that police entered the apartment after backup arrived where they placed the resident in custody before looking through the rest of the house.

Officers made their way to the attic where they say Klishevich was last seen, but couldn’t be found after the first search.

Police said that the duplex apartment was split in half with a divider separating the attic but there was a space up at the top for someone to climb over. Police claim that Klishevich made his way into the other occupied apartment to try and escape police.

The report adds that officers had to break down a portion of the wall to gain access into the area of the building they suspected Klishevich to be hiding in, but still was unable to find him in the other apartment as well.

Klishevich was eventually found in the original apartment hiding under a cardboard box with police concluding that he would go back and forth between the two apartments to get away from them.

Klishevich is being held on $100,000 bail with an initial court date set for March 12.
