Kevin McCoy, a Southeast representative for Church World Service in Athens, was a guest speaker at a ribbon-cutting event held recently in Atlanta to announce the placement of a Mobile Giving Machine.

The machine, located at 1115 Howell Mill Road, Atlanta, is a charity-based program sponsored by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The Church World Service, founded in 1946, provides disaster relief and refugee assistance to people around the world, according to the church.

“The Giving Machines offer an easy and fun way to support the work of CWS and help families around the world who are struggling with hunger and poverty. The gift of chickens, a goat, or a crop of drought resistant sweet potatoes can be life changing for a family in Kenya or Haiti, and it sends a message of caring and love during this holiday season,” McCoy said.

Donations raised through the Giving Machine benefit not only Church World Service, but Wellspring Living and The Children’s Haven, two charities based in Atlanta.

The machines, which look like snack machines, allows people to purchase items that help those sponsored by the charities.
