At least 19 athletes with Colorado ties have earned spots on their home countries' teams for the 2022 Olympics in Beijing.

Winter Olympics sports in which athletes with Colorado ties will be featured include:

  • men's and women's alpine skiing

  • men's and women's biathlon

  • men's and women's figure skating

  • men's and women's freestyle skiing

  • men's and women's hockey

  • men's Nordic combined

  • women's skeleton

  • men's and women's snowboarding

The 2022 Olympics in Beijing mark the 24th time the winter games have been held since the first Winter Olympics in Chamonix, France, in 1924.

The 2022 Olympics also will be the first Winter Olympics hosted by Beijing, China, which most recently hosted the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.

Mikaela Shiffrin, women's alpine skiing, Team USA

Mikaela Shiffrin is a two-time Olympian (2014, 2018) and three-time Olympic medalist, having won two golds and one silver. Shiffrin was born in Vail, Colo. Her hometown is Edwards.

River Radamus, men's alpine skiing, Team USA

River Radamus won first-place in the slalom event at the 2015 U.S. Junior National Championships. Born in Steamboat Springs, Colo., he calls Edwards his hometown.

Leif Nordgren, men's biathlon, Team USA

Leif Nordgren competed in the 2014 and 2018 Winter Olympics. Nordgren was born in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Joanne Reid, women's biathlon, Team USA

Joanne Reid is a 2013 graduate of the University of Colorado. Reid calls Grand Junction, Colo., her hometown.

Vincent Zhou, men's figure skating, Team USA

Vincent Zhou competed in the 2018 Winter Olympics, placing sixth. In 2018, Zhou became the first skater to land a quadruple Lutz at the Olympics. Zhou attended Cheyenne Mountain High School in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Jason Brown, men's figure skating, Team USA

Jason Brown won bronze at the 2014 Winter Olympics. Brown attended college at the University of Colorado.

Mariah Bell, women's figure skating, Team USA

Mariah Bell graduated from Ralston Valley High School in Arvada, Colo., in 2014. Bell calls Monument her hometown and is a member of Rocky Mountain Figure Skating Club.

Aaron Blunck, men's freestyle skiing, Team USA

Aaron Blunck, a two-time Olympian (2014, 2018), was born in Englewood, Colo. Blunck calls Crested Butte his hometown. He is a member of Ski & Snowboard Club Vail and attended high school at Vail Ski & Snowboard Academy.

Alex Ferreira, men's freestyle skiing, Team USA

Alex Ferreira won silver at the 2018 Winter Olympics. Ferreira was born in Aspen, Colo., and is a member of both Aspen Valley Ski & Snowboard Club and Ski & Snowboard Club Vail.

Hanna Faulhaber, women's freestyle skiing, Team USA

Hanna Faulhaber is a member of Aspen Valley Ski & Snowboard Club. Faulhaber's hometown is Basalt, Colo.

Nicole Hensley, women's hockey, Team USA

Nicole Hensley is goalie on the women's ice hockey team. Hensley won gold at the 2018 Winter Olympics. Hensley, born in Littleton, Colo., calls Lakewood home.

Nick Shore, men's hockey, Team USA

Nick Shore is a forward on the men's hockey team. Shore, from Denver, played on the University of Denver hockey team. Shore has played eight seasons in the NHL.

Taylor Fletcher, Nordic combined, Team USA

Taylor Fletcher, a three-time Olympian (2010, 2014, 2018), is from Steamboat Springs, Colo.

Katie Uhlaender, women's skeleton, Team USA

Red Gerard, men's snowboarding, Team USA

Red Gerard competed in the 2018 Winter Olympics and won a gold medal. Silverthorne, Colo., is Gerard's hometown.
