Athletes honored at Hartem spring awards ceremony

Hartsburg-Emden recently held their spring athletic awards banquet that honored students who excelled at their sport.

For the junior high girls track sport Abby Newlun was named most improved and the 7th grade most valuable player and Kennedy McCree was named the 8th grade most valuable player.

For the junior high boys track sport Kyler Williams was named most improved, Andrew Zimmerman was named the 7th grad most valuable player and Peyton Swinford was named as the 8th grade most valuable player and Tate Whitted earned the Stag award.

For the high school bass fishing sport Ellis Dowell was named most improved and the Angler of the Year went to Dandre Snow.

For the high school baseball sport Drew McAfee earned the defensive, leading hitter and most valuable player awards. Jace Whitted earned the hustle award and Garrett Hopkins earned the most improved. Blake Martin was named the most versatile player and earned the Rudy Lolling Sportsmanship award. Will Wright was the recipient of the Rudy Lolling Sportsmanship of the Year Award.
