Come Build an Organ

12-2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8 at Woodward United Methodist Church.

All ages are welcome to join the Woodward Public Library at Woodward United Methodist Church to build and learn to play the organ.

Buy Nothing Event

8 a.m. - 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9 at Minburn United Methodist Church, 705 Chestnut St., Minburn.

Minburn United Methodist Church invites area residents to attend its Buy Nothing Event on Saturday, Sept. 9 during Minburn's city-wide sales. Everything is FREE to everyone, including household items, furniture, clothing for kids and adults and more. There will be a small bounce house (for younger kids) plus fun games on the lawn. Come enjoy PIE with the Pastor. If you’d like to make a free-will donation, funds will go towards Wednesday Club meals and youth activities.

Financial Wellness Workshop

10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 9 at Woodward Public Library.

Judy Marshall is a licensed financial coach who strives to both educate her clients and protect them from common financial mistakes over time. She will be talking about preparation for retirement, offering education on basic financial principles including debt management, investment red flags and how to properly protect families from financial crises. All attendees will receive a free financial check-up (a $199 value). To have enough materials available, preregistration is encouraged. Prairie Awakening - Prairie Awoke Celebration

3-9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9 at Kuehn Conservation Area.

The theme of this year's celebration will be “All of my Relatives.” We are inviting back relatives that have been a huge part of the family created by the celebration. Bryan Akipa, native flute, will again bring his stories and music to the prairie. Dallas Chief Eagle will share his Hoop Dance presentation and an audience-participation Hoop Dance with a bonfire. Mike HeCrow will share ethnobotany wisdom of the prairie’s plant relatives. A rehabilitated raptor and tagged migrating monarchs will be released. As traditions direct, we will sit together, in the tallgrass prairie arena at Kuehn, remembering and visioning a hopeful tomorrow. Bring a lawn chair. Concessions will be provided by the Little Green Trailer food truck based out of Creston. Register for additional details and updates through the DCCB Eventbrite page. In case of inclement weather, the event will be relocated to Earlham High School.

Free Community Supper

Woodward-Granger Homecoming Dinner

5:30-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14 at Woodward-Granger High School Cafeteria.

The Woodward-Granger Booster Club will host a homecoming dinner on Thursday, Sept. 14. The menu includes pulled pork sandwich or hot dog, cheesy potatoes, chips, drink and dessert. Free-will donations will be taken.

ADM TigerFest

5:30-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14 at ADM High School / Middle School Campus.

Adel DeSoto Minburn Schools invites the ADM community to join in TigerFest on Thursday, Sept. 14 to celebrate ADM Homecoming. Experience bounce houses for kids and other free games from 5:30-7 p.m. The ADM Athletic Booster club is also sponsoring a senior athlete autograph tent. Come grab a poster and autograph from your favorite athlete. Food and dessert from Snappies and the ADM Fine Arts Booster Club will be available for purchase in the concessions area of ADM Stadium. The District Pep Rally will follow at 7 p.m. at ADM Stadium, highlighting band, cheer, dance, XC, volleyball and football teams in 7th through 12th grades. Coronation will take place at the end of the District Pep Rally, followed by ADM Homecoming Powder Puff Football at 8 p.m. Attendees are asked to enter the ADM High School parking lot through the west entrance.

Party Like a Patriot Fundraiser

6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14 at Country Lane Lodge, Adel.

Dallas County Republicans will host its Party Like a Patriot fundraiser on Thursday, Sept. 14. The event will feature an in-depth look at the candidates through a panel discussion along with a meal. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with the main event set to start at 6:30 p.m. Purchase tickets at dallascountygop.org.

Apple Festival

10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16 at Penoach Vineyard and Winery, Adel.

Penoach Vineyard and Winery will host the 14th annual Apple Festival on Saturday, Sept. 16. Vendors will be set up selling a variety of foods, crafts and more along with pumpkins and apples from Dallas County Orchard. Other activities include antique tractor rides, face painting, marshmallow roasting (weather permitting) and live music by Brick'n Bob from 1-4 p.m. Ferinheit Pizza will be serving wood fired pizzas. While the festival is free admission, organizers request a cash or check donation to the Good Samaritan Food Pantry.

De Soto Fun Days

Saturday, Sept. 16 at Little Bridge Park, De Soto.

De Soto Fun Days returns on Saturday, Sept. 16. The festivities will kick off with a parade at 10 a.m., followed by free entertainment in Little Bridge Park. Activities will include bounce houses, Zoomers, balloons, face painting, crafts with the library, water games/ fights, bingo, car show and food trucks. The event will wrap up with live music by Hired Guns and a fireworks show.

Unveiling of Wall of Witnesses Plaque

5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27 at Soumas Court.

Please join Hometown Heritage on Wednesday, Sept. 27 to honor the new 2023 inductee to the Wall of Witnesses. Through an open nomination process, this person was nominated and met the following criteria: 1) had a tie with Perry, 2) has had an impact on the area, and 3) has an interesting story. The committee reviewed all nominations and selected this Perry resident who best reflected the nomination criteria. Light refreshments will be served after the program.
