Attending the Fall Dispatch Home & Garden Show? Here's what you need to know

The Fall Dispatch Home & Garden Show is fast approaching and homeonwers seeking ideas for renovations will find plenty of inspiration.

The event will run Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday through Sunday at the Bricker Building at the Ohio Expo Center, Interstate 71 and East 17th Avenue.

And, on Sunday, special guest Craig Conover from Bravo TV's "Southern Charm" TV show, will take the stage to share his design ideas.

Here is a snapshot of what's happening at the show:

When will Conover speak?

One of the stars of the reality-TV show "Southern Charm," Conover is the special guest of the home and garden show and will be on the Simple Bath Simple Kitchen Home Stage at 1 p.m. Sunday.

The founder of the sewing-and home-decor company Sewing Down South, Conover has built a successful business in addition to his TV show success and law degree from the Charleston School of Law.

How much is admission?

Admission: free

What about parking?

Parking at the fairgrounds costs $5, and can be found off East 17th Avenue. Parking is not available off 11th Avenue. There is free parking on Friday for Home & Garden Show guests until 3 p.m. but you must have a valid coupon to redeem it. You can find the free parking coupon in The Columbus Dispatch and bring it to one of the parking attendants.

In addition, the Columbus Oktoberfest is also taking place at the fairgrounds, and visitors to the home and garden show can take shuttles to the Oktoberfest activities. Admission to Oktoberfest is also free.

When will the garden awards be given?

The Dispatch Backyard Garden Awards, which celebrate the best gardens in six categories: home landscaping, vegetable, container, community, native plant and perennial; will be announced at the show.

The top prize in each category is a $300 gift card to Oakland Nurseries; second-place winners will each earn $100 gift cards; third-place winners will each earn $50 gift cards; and the best-of-show winner will receive a $500 gift card.

Winners will be announced during a ceremony at 3 p.m. Saturday.
