After attending 'wonderful' Jason Isbell show, Corey Smith announces Athens concert date

While R.E.M. founding member Mike Mills surprised the crowd at Monday night's Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit show at the Georgia Theatre, another well-known local musician was in the audience, and country music fans in Athens will be able to see him on that same stage in just a couple of months.
The morning after the Isbell performance, the Georgia Theatre announced a concert date for recording artist Corey Smith set for Apr. 9. Smith, who hails from nearby Jefferson, replied to the announcement via his verified Twitter account.

"Looking forward to it," wrote Smith. "Btw, I had a wonderful time @JasonIsbell show last night!!! It was great hearing a show from front of house for a change. Reminded me of why I love live music."
Later that morning, Smith posted a photo he took at the concert and commented that "@jasonisbell crushed it as always. It was an inspiring night."
Tickets for the Apr. 9 show at the Georgia Theatre will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Jan. 28 at georgiatheatre.com. Smith's 10th album, "Live From Buckhead," was released in May 2020, and his current tour dates are scheduled through June 2022.
