Attention local foodies. Here’s a list of new eats and drinks coming to Warner Robins

Looking for a new spot for some authentic Mexican street food? Or how about some hickory-smoked barbecue and scratch-made sides?

Two new family owned and operated Mexican restaurants are close to opening in Warner Robins, while construction is expected to start soon on a new barbecue spot that will be a new brand for Middle Georgia.

Speaking of new brands, a popular bubble tea franchise is close to opening its first Middle Georgia store also in Warner Robins.

And last but not least, a popular Atlanta area wing spot that’s grown into a restaurant franchise chain is expected to open soon one of two Warner Robins restaurants with one in Macon on the way.

Here’s snapshot of the new eats and drinks coming:

Los Comales

Husband-and-wife team Jose Reyes and Hermy Garcia are opening a new authentic Mexican restaurant at 1238 South Houston Lake Road, Suite 7. The couple have operated a spot at Smiley’s Flea Market in Macon for about 10 years.

They plan to offer street tacos and other cuisine one would commonly find when walking down the streets of Mexico City, said their daughter Estefani Reyes-Garcia, who plans to help out at the new restaurant and bar on weekends and on breaks from college.

They also plan to keep their food truck at Smiley’s with the help of family members who also will work at the restaurant. Los Comales is expected to open in about a month in the former Tacos & More Loncheria location.

Jim ‘N Nick’s Community Bar-B-Q

Known for their slow-cooked, hickory smoked barbecue and made-from-scratch sides, this restaurant is coming to 4060 Watson Blvd. near the new and soon-to-open 7 Brew Drive-thru Coffee shop. With the permit issued, site work is underway for construction of the new restaurant. Founded in 1985 in Birmingham, Alabama, Jim ‘N Nick’s has more than 40 locations in six states, including 15 in Georgia, according to the company’s website.

Meanwhile, the new 7 Brew in Warner Robins will be the first for the brand in Middle Georgia, with the second to follow in Macon. Both had set August opening dates but are experiencing delays with new dates to be determined, a 7 Brew spokeswoman said. Meanwhile, construction continues on the new Slim Chickens near the 7 Brew in Warner Robins. Slim Chickens is also new to Middle Georgia.

Kung Fu Tea

Founded in Queens in 2010, this bubble tea brand is expected to open within a couple of months at 810 Ga. 96, Suite 2000, in the Century Market Plaza next to the new Little Caesar’s. Bubble tea is mixed with milk and fruits and topped with chewy tapioca pearls. The popular beverage that was brought to the U.S. by Taiwanese immigrants also is known as pearl milk tea, boba milk tea, boba tea, boba nai cha and tapioca tea.

In its classic form, bubble tea is made with black tea, milk, sugar and tapioca pearls. With more than 200 locations across the U.S., Kung Fu Tea offers a variety of flavors of the classic tea, milk tea, punch, slushies and espresso, said franchisee Meet Patel. A variety of topping options also are available. Each beverage is hand-crafted.

Fogata Street Tacos

The Aguila family is opening their second location of this Ocoee, Florida, restaurant known for its authentic Mexican cuisine also in the Century Market Plaza. Alex Aguilar, who previously lived in Houston County and owns and operates the Florida restaurant, is helping his father and sisters to open the new Warner Robins spot at 810 Ga. 96 in the former Baja Fresh location.

Fogata Street Tacos will offer street tacos, specialty tacos, quesadillas, chimichangos, flautas, nachos and more. “Everything is fresh,” said Alex’s sister, Gissele Aguila. She noted that their nachos and tortillas are homemade. For the Aguila family, opening the restaurant is the realization of a dream as well as a tribute to their mom who died last year. “We’re trying to make her a little bit proud,” Gissele said.

Touchdown Wings

This popular wings restaurant that got its start in the Atlanta area is gearing up to open its first Warner Robins location soon at 2907 Watson Blvd., Suite C-2, next to the new Crumbl Cookies in a shopping strip anchored by Academy Sports.

The restaurant franchise is best known for their wings with 30 sauce offerings as well as their Philly cheesesteaks, hamburgers, fried fish and fried rice. Touchdown Wings was birthed from a popular Chinese restaurant that experienced a high demand for wings, especially on Super Bowl Sundays. A second Warner Robins location as well as Macon store are in the works.
