Attica man killed in head-on crash south of West Point

LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Richard Slinker died about 1:20 p.m. Saturday in a head-on traffic accident on Indiana 25 near Tippecanoe County Road 750 South, according to the Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Office.

Slinker,68, Attica, drove northbound on Indiana 25 as Jonathan Christenberry, 40, of Lafayette, was southbound.

Christenberry lost control of his Ford F150 as he entered a curved in the road, according to the sheriff's office. He crossed center and struck Slinker’s Nissan Versa, according to the sheriff's office.

West Point firefighters were the first to arrive at the crash and found Christenberry's vehicle on fire. They also confirmed that Slinker was dead at the scene, according to sheriff's office.

Christenberry was able to get out of his vehicle and was transported by paramedics to IU Arnett Hospital for additional medical treatment, according to sheriff's office.
