Attorney says 'fully expect' landmark opioid trial to begin Monday

Oct 18 (Reuters) - A landmark trial stemming from the opioid epidemic is expected to begin on Monday after last-ditch talks to strike a multibillion settlement faltered on Friday, according to an attorney for local governments, Paul Hanly.

The thousands of local governments that sued drugmakers and distributors are "not on the same page" as state attorneys general who also sued the companies, Hanly said. (Reporting by Tom Hals in Wilmington, Delaware; Editing by Sandra Maler)
