ATV mishap near Emerado, N.D., leaves passenger with severe injuries

Aug. 6—EMERADO, N.D. — A passenger of an ATV was injured in an accident near Emerado on Friday.

The incident occurred just before 6 p.m. at 17th Avenue Northeast and 18th Street on Prairie Trail, near Emerado, according to a release from the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

According to a Highway Patrol release, the 14-year-old driver of the 2019 Polaris Ranger lost control on a muddy prairie trail on private property.

The release said the "driver turned the ATV in manner that she lost control and rolled the ATV one full roll and onto its driver's side. The passenger sustained severe injuries from the crash and is being treated at Altru Hospital for his injuries."

The driver, from Minot and who was not identified in the NDHP release, suffered minor injuries. The passenger was Zachary Mack, 38, of Spirit Lake, Idaho.
