Aubrey Plaza Can't Outrun Mark Hamill's Chucky in the Killer New Trailer for Child’s Play

“Introducing your new best friend.”

Those ominous words bring to life the deadly doll Chucky in the latest trailer for Child’s Play.

The film follows Andy (Gabriel Bateman) as he adapts to life in a new town as he struggles to make friends. In an attempt to make him feel better, his mother Karen (Aubrey Plaza) buys him a Buddi doll, Chucky, that can connect to and control all electronic devices.

But Andy soon ends up discovering Chucky’s more sinister nature when those closest to him suffer gruesome injuries and deaths.

“I think Chucky did something,” Andy tries to tell his mother. “Something is wrong with Chucky.”

Dismissing her son’s fears, Karen says, “Chucky is a toy.”

Her skepticism soon turns to horror when she finds herself in Chucky’s clutches.

The film stars Mark Hamill as the voice of Chucky, along with Brian Tyree Henry (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse), Tim Matheson and David Thewlis.

Hamill announced his involvement in the film during a video message at WonderCon earlier this month.

“Hello WonderCon, it’s Mark Hamill here. And if you’re wondering who’s going to voice Chucky in the new Child’s Play, you’re looking at him,” Hamill said in the video. “I can’t wait to bring such an iconic character to life and present him in a way you’ve never seen him before. Child’s Play this summer, we’re gonna have some fun. And remember: he’s more than just a toy, he’s your best friend.”

The movie comes 30 years after the original by the same name made its debut in 1988. The film reimagines Chucky’s origin story, much like the way 2017’s It gave new life to an old and terrifying character.

Child’s Play hits theaters June 21.
