Auburn basketball score vs. Texas Southern: Live updates, Tigers close four-game homestand

AUBURN — Auburn basketball can remain perfect on the season if it can score a win against Texas Southern.

The Tigers (3-0) thrashed Winthrop, 89-65, the last time they took the floor Tuesday. Johni Broome logged the first double-double of his Auburn career with 18 points and 13 rebounds, and Wendell Green Jr. continued his hot start to the season, scoring 16 points and adding five assists.

Broome also registered five blocks, and backup big man Dylan Cardwell added four more. Protecting the rim has proven to be a strength for this Tigers team through the early part of the season, despite losing Walker Kessler to the NBA just a few months ago.

Texas Southern (1-4) has only one win but it was an overtime victory against Arizona State last Sunday. Texas Southern's coach may be a name Auburn fans recognize: Johnny Jones was with LSU for five seasons before his tenure at Texas Southern began. He helped LSU secure a spot in the 2015 NCAA Tournament.
