Auburn blows by Alabama 99-81 in the Jungle winning ‘Iron Bowl’ of Basketball

AUBURN, Ala. (WHNT) — The Auburn Men’s Basketball Team won big on Wednesday night against their arch-rival Alabama in the “Jungle” with a 99-81 victory.

The Auburn Tigers led the Tide by 14 points going into the half outscoring the Tide 55-41. Forward Jaylin Williams led the Tigers with a career-high score of 26 points and 6 rebounds. As for the Tide, Guard Mark Sears nearly matched that amount of points with 25 of his own for the night.

Auburn Men’s Basketball adds fourth loss after falling to Mississippi State

Auburn shot the ball fairly well tonight, shooting 42% from field goal range. While the Tide shot at 35% from the 3-point-line, the Tide gave up 15 turnovers and had 2 steals.

Auburn took the win for the second meeting between the two schools this season in a classical showdown with the legendary Auburn Alum Charles Barkley in attendance. With 99 points, this gives Auburn the most points scored against an SEC opponent since 1995.

Auburn (19-4, 8-2) will travel to Gainesville, Florida, on Saturday to play the Gators at 2:30 p.m. CT. Alabama (16-7, 8-2) will travel to Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Saturday to play the Tigers at 11 a.m. CT.
