Auburn football depth chart vs. San Jose State: Starters change at receiver, offensive line

AUBURN — Does Auburn football have a quarterback controversy? Not according to Bryan Harsin's depth chart entering Week 2 against San Jose State.

The Tigers continue to list T.J. Finley as the lone starter above Oregon transfer Robby Ashford on the two-deep, despite the series of events that unfolded in a 42-16 win against Mercer potentially complicating the matter. Ashford played as early as the first drive, and he finished 4-for-7 with 100 passing yards and 68 rushing yards while Finley (9-for-14) threw two interceptions.

Instead, the only changes from opening week are position battles resolved at receiver and right guard. Junior Ja'Varrius Johnson, after his 117 yards Saturday as a backup, leapfrogged redshirt freshman Tar'Varish at the H receiver (slot) role. Dawson is now the No. 2.

Last week, the only "OR" at a starting position on the depth chart was right guard: Keiondre Jones and Kam Stutts shared the top spot. Now Stutts is listed alone as the starter. He played 32 snaps against Mercer; Jones played 31.

Auburn (1-0) hosts the San Jose State Spartans (1-0) on Saturday (6:30 p.m. CT, ESPNU) at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Here is the full depth chart.
