Auburn football lands Western Kentucky OT Gunner Britton from the transfer portal
AUBURN — Auburn football coach Hugh Freeze landed his fourth commitment from the transfer portal Thursday with the addition of former Western Kentucky offensive tackle Gunner Britton.
Britton, who has spent the last four seasons with the Hilltoppers, is the No. 5 player at his position in the portal, according to 247Sports. The 6-foot-6, 305-pound Britton appeared in 51 games at Western Kentucky after redshirting his freshman season in 2018.

A two-star recruit coming out of Conway High School in South Carolina, Britton was rated by the 247Sports Composite as the No. 212 tackle in the class of 2018 and the 53rd-best player in the state. He received attention as a recruit from South Carolina, Clemson and Appalachian State, among others, but did not receive scholarship offers from those schools.
Britton is the second offensive tackle to transfer to Auburn this offseason. Dillon Wade, who was tabbed as the No. 3 player at his position in the portal, announced his intentions to come to the Plains on Dec. 23 after three seasons at Tulsa. They join high school signees Clay Wedin, Bradyn Joiner, Connor Lew and Tyler Johnson as new additions to the offensive line. Izavion Miller, who comes from the junior college level, was also signed this cycle.
With the struggles the offensive line had last season, Freeze has clearly made it a point of emphasis to upgrade that position group during his first offseason at Auburn.
