Auburn quarterback Bo Nix will not play Saturday against Alabama, but he has already made his mark on Iron Bowl week.

Nix, doing a weekly appearance for the streaming show "The Next Round," needled the Crimson Tide and the SEC about a potential officiating bias.

"Just a few of those controversial calls that were in that game raises some questions for sure, unless you're an Alabama fan. But that's just part of the game," Nix said regarding Alabama's win over Arkansas on Saturday.

"That's not going to change, no matter what happens. But it was a good game for sure."

Nix did not give any specifics, but he could have referenced a fourth quarter review of a Jameson Williams touchdown that ultimately stood as called. The Crimson Tide took a two-score lead on that TD with 5:39 left.

Nix was sitting at home and watching games throughout Saturday after suffering a broken ankle in a loss to Mississippi State on Nov. 14. TJ Finley replaced Nix at quarterback on Saturday for Auburn at South Carolina, and the Gamecocks won 21-17. (A controversial review reversal in the final few minutes that went against Auburn prevented the Tigers from having a final chance to take the lead.) Finley will start against Alabama on Saturday.

Nix was given a chance to explain himself a few questions later.

"I think you can watch the game, and anybody unbiased will think that something is different, but it is what it is," Nix said. "It's kinda how it's always been. But that's part of the game."

Nix did have something positive to say about Alabama, mentioning Williams' strong game against the Razorbacks, when he caught eight passes for 190 yards and three touchdowns.

"Jameson Williams is another one of the best receivers in the SEC," Nix said about the Ohio State transfer receiver. "That guy can fly."

Nix, a junior, can return for another season at Auburn in 2022. His record against Alabama as a starter is 1-1, but he won't get a chance to change that at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

But maybe he will get a word or two in on the sidelines Saturday with the officials.
