Auburn football score vs. Western Kentucky: Live updates from Senior Day
AUBURN — Auburn football hasn't played Western Kentucky since 2005, but with the Hilltoppers coming to Jordan-Hare Stadium, the Tigers are looking to score their fifth win of the season.
Auburn (4-6, 2-5 SEC) is coming off an emotional game against Texas A&M last week. It was the first victory for interim head coach Carnell "Cadillac" Williams and the Tigers did it in front of a sold-out crowd. The offense drove into A&M territory on nine of the 13 drives it had, but only had 13 points to show for it. Quarterback Robby Ashford connected on 6-of-13 passes, and just one of those was to a wide receiver.
It was the defense that carried Auburn to the win, allowing just 10 points and getting after A&M's freshman quarterback Conner Weigman. Colby Wooden strip-sacked Weigman late in the fourth quarter to set the Tigers up for a field goal, which Alex McPherson knocked through to put Auburn up by two scores and essentially sealed the game.
Western Kentucky (7-4) comes into the matchup following a dominant win over Rice. The Hilltoppers have only lost one game by more than three points this season, a 40-13 loss to North Texas last month. Auburn will be Western Kentucky's second game against a Power 5 opponent, with the first coming earlier this season in an overtime loss to Indiana.
