Hobart received his bachelor's degree from Mississippi State in 2012 and his master's two years later. He joined the staff at MSU as a graduate assistant for athletic marketing and social media in August 2012. Hobart worked his way up the ranks in a number of roles for the next eight years, which ultimately led to him being the assistant athletic director for marketing and branding.

He left Mississippi State in 2020 for a role at Wake Forest, where he spent two years before returning to MSU in May 2022. His most recent title with the Bulldogs was executive senior associate athletic director for external affairs.

During his two-year stint at Wake Forest, he was the associate athletic director for fan experience and brand development.
