Auburn man dies after his Harley-Davidson motorcycle is struck by SUV in Roseville

A 64-year-old Auburn man died Thursday when his motorcycle crashed with a sport utility vehicle on Sierra College Boulevard in Roseville, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The fatal crash was reported about 11:50 a.m. in the northbound lanes of Sierra College Boulevard at the intersection with Cavitt Stallman Road.

Officers arrived at the scene and learned that an 80-year-old Roseville man was driving a red 2017 GMC SUV south on Sierra College. The SUV’s driver was making a left turn to head east on Cavitt Stallman, the CHP Auburn office said in a news release.

Witnesses told CHP officers that the Auburn man, who was driving a red 2013 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, was heading north on Sierra College and approaching the intersection at the speed limit.

The SUV then struck the motorcycle. The CHP said officers were still trying to determine the reason for the collision.

The force of the impact caused the Auburn man to be ejected from the motorcycle and fell on the road. The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet during the crash.

Medics pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene. The Placer County Coroner’s Office will release his name after his family has been notified.

The CHP said the SUV’s driver and an 80-year-old Roseville woman in the front passenger seat suffered minor injuries consisting of complaint of pain in the crash, and they were taken by ambulance to Sutter Roseville Medical Center.

Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the fatal crash, the CHP said. The cause of the crash remained under investigation.
