Auburn Morning Rush: Gymnastics begins starting preparations, more Tigers win awards

Happy Wednesday, Auburn fans.

While the football season may be over for the Tigers this holiday season, that doesn’t mean that Auburn sports as a whole have come to a halt. Quite the opposite, in fact — the gymnastics team is gearing up for its first action in months with its upcoming preview meet. On top of that, players on the volleyball and soccer teams have been recognized with awards and 41 Auburn athletes have signed a new NIL deal that will give them cash compensation from an Auburn collective.

Auburn gymnastics is gearing up for its return.

The Tigers are set to hold their preview meet next Friday. The meet will function as a training and tune-up meet for the squad that made the gymnastics Final Four last year and will be the first step toward the beginning of the season that will kick off on Jan. 13 against Florida.

Auburn’s most notable gymnast, Sunisa Lee, is expected to stay at Auburn for one more year before beginning her preparation for the 2026 Olympics in Paris.

Tigers don’t just win awards for their accomplishments on the field.

Auburn midfielder Anna Haddock was named to the CSC Academic All-America team for the second year in a row — one of only four student-athletes around the nation to boast the honor. Haddock was named to the third-team on good merit, as she’s maintained a 4.0 GPA in every season she’s played for the soccer team.

Volleyball coach and players receive accolades

The Auburn volleyball team’s strong season hasn’t gone unnoticed.

The Tigers, who are currently 22-9 on the year and 10-8 in conference play, have some award-winning personnel to back up their play. Head coach Brent Crouch was named as the AVCA South Region Coach of the Year and freshmen Akasha Anderson and Kendal Kemp also got their due, with Anderson being named South Region Freshmen of the Year and Kemp being named an honorable mention.

Auburn’s NIL collective is expanding.

The collective, called On To Victory, has reached its way to the men’s and women’s basketball teams and the volleyball team. The collective now has 140 athletes signed and the 41 new players that signed as per the three-team agreement received cash compensation. The athletes reportedly received a certain amount depending on the valuation of their worth by the collective.
