Auburndale's Abrams wins twice, 5 more Polk girls crowned region champions

Auburndale senior De'Asia Abrams won two individual titles, and five more Polk County girls won one individual title each at their respective region meets.

Abrams with two individual regional titles, and Lake Wales senior Lydia Denton with one title were the individual champions from Polk at the Class 2A, Region 3 girls weightlifting meet at Cypress Creek.

Abrams won the unlimited division in the Traditional competition with a total lift of 405 pounds, and she won the Olympic competition with 320 pounds.

Denton took the 169-pound class in the Olympic competition with 320 pounds. She also took third in the Traditional with 345 pounds.

In the team competition, Lake Wales took third place in Traditional, just three points from a tie for first, and also finished third in Olympic.

The Highlanders had four top three finishes in Traditional and one in Olympic, including Denton in both competitions.

Kayden Arliss (154) was second in both the Traditional with 385 pounds, and the Olympic with 380 pounds.

Natayvia Ingram was second in unlimited with 330 pounds and fifth in Olympic with 280 pounds.

Majesta Arnold (101) was third in Traditional with 210 pounds and fourth in Olympic with 180 pounds.

Sharon Parker (154) was third in Traditional with 330 pounds.

Hannah Battles  (139) finished third and sixth respectively in Traditional and Olympic.

Also from Lake Wales in Traditional, Aliza Khan (101) finished sixth, Dyani Martinez (110) finished 10th, Lake Wales' Samantha Hiller (129) and Athena Tanasa (129) finished ninth and 10th respectively, Isabel Updike (139) finished 10th, Ariana Pizarro (169) was fifth, Alexa Cross (183) finished 10th, Jennifer Morales (199) and Sophia Ortiz (UNL) both finished ninth.

In Olympic, Khan finished sixth, Styles finished fifth, Pizzaro finished fifth, Cross was sixth, Cross was ninth, and Ortiz took 10th.

Auburndale finished sixth in Traditional and ninth in Olympic.

For Auburndale, Kathryn Pruitt (110) was second in Traditional with 270 pounds and fourth in Olympic with 215 pounds. Taylor Dudney (183) finished fourth in Traditional and sixth in Olympics, and Haleigh Bradley (110) was sixth in Olympic. Lilia Ebert was 10th at 169, and Cailyn Rowe was 10th.

Davenport's Lyric Pittman also took third in Traditional with 335 pounds and third in Olympics with 290 pounds at 199. Desiree Antener (183) was seventh in Olympic, and Alexis Anstadt (UNL) was sixth.

Logan, McQueen win region titles in 3A-3

Winter Haven's Alyvia Logan won the 154-pound class in the Traditional competition, and Lake Gibson's Jaidaah McQueen won the Olympic unlimited division at the 3A-3 region meet.

Logan won with a total lift of 350 pounds, and she also was third in Olympic with 305 pounds.

McQueen won with 300 pounds and she finished third in Traditional with 330 pounds.

Lake Gibson's Alessadnra Diaz (101) picked up a third-place finish in Traditional and a second-place finish in Olympic.

Haines City's Tiana Bowers (154) was third in Traditional and third in Olympic, and Lakeland's Indiana Myers (169) picked up two third-place finishes.

Other top 10 finishers : Ridge Commuinity's Alesia Smith (110) finished 10th in Traditional, Lakeland Rhyan Parrish (119) finished fourth in both competitions, Winter Haven's Riley Matthews (129)  had two fifth-place finishes, Winter Haven's Gabriella Fiorillo (139) was fifth in Traditional and sixth in Olympic, Lakeland's Brianna Brown was 10th in Olympic, Winer Haven's Tatyana Alexander finished fifth

In the team competition, Winter Haven finished fifth and Lake Gibson was 10th in Traditional. Lake Gibson was eighth and Winter Haven ninth in Olympic.

McKeel's Davis, Fort Meade's Garcia win region titles in 1A-3

McKeel's Alexia Davis had a total lift of 245 pounds to win the 183-pound class in the Traditional meet, and Fort Meade's Valeria Garcia took first with 350 pounds at 169 as the only regional champions from Polk in the 1A-3 region meet.

Top 10 finishes from Polk in Traditional were: Frostproof's Chelsea Palmatier ninth at 110, Mulberry's Natalie Sherrill fifth at 119, Frostproof's Bailey Tuck 19th at 235, Mulberry's Tatiana Rutledge seventh at 183 and Mulberry EmmaGrace Gonyaw ninth at unlimited.

In Olympic, Frostpoof's Callie Brewere was eighth at 1010, Palmatier seventh, Sherrill fifth and Frostproof's Alondra Barajas sixth at 119, Jamie Conner eighth at 129, Greyxis Colon sixth at 154, and Frostproof's Nyaela 19th at unlimited.
