Auction to benefit Andover Public Library

Jul. 16—ANDOVER — The annual auction benefiting the Andover Public Library will be held this month by the nonprofit Friends of the Library group.

The auction will be held in person on Friday, July 23, but those who cannot attend may email a bid one time only by Thursday, July 22, with the understanding that auction attendees may make higher bids.

It will be in the community room of Andover Town Hall, located at 17 School Road. Viewing starts at 6 p. m. and the auction will begin at 6: 30 p. m.

" As the largest fundraiser of the year, 100 percent of the proceeds from the annual auction support the Andover Public Library," said organizers Julie Victoria and Janice Bazzani in a joint statement.

"The Goods and Services Auction is always a fun time with bargains for all."

Items up for auction include tickets for several local attractions and museums including the Essex Steam Train and Riverboat; Farmington Mini Golf and Ice Cream Parlor; Hyline Cruises; UConn's Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts; the Lutz C h i l d r e n ' s Museum in Manchester; the Lyman Allyn Art Museum in New London; the Mark Twain House and Museum in Hartford; M a r L e a Mini Golf in Bolton; Mohawk Mountain in West Corn- wall; Mystic Seaport; the Noah Webster House in West Hartford; the Pez Visitor Center in Orange; Putters Paradise in Berlin; Shoreline Trolley in East Haven; the Thomas Hooker Breweries in Bloomfield and Hartford; and the Vintage Radio Museum in Windsor, among others.

There are also tickets to amusement parks, museums, theaters, wineries and zoos in Maine, Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont and tickets to ferries to Block Island and Martha's Vineyard. There are also gift certificates to Bolton Ve t e r i n a r y H o s p i t a l , H e b r o n F a m i l y Chiropractic, Landon Tire in Willim a n t i c , Marc Services in Andover, Monet's Table in Tolland, the Song- A- Day Music Center in Coventry and Willington Pizza, among other local businesses.

The auction also has themed gift baskets with cat toys, cleaning supplies, cooking equipment, greeting cards, jewelry, movies and puppets, as well as items like art, dishes, exercise equipment, games and outdoor furniture.

" In addition, the Friends are selling raffle tickets for a beautiful quilt made by local quilter Jean Mamonas, with the winner to be drawn in the fall," said Bazzani and Victoria.

Raffle tickets are available throughout the summer at the library at 355 Route 6.

Those at the auction in person can also enjoy refreshments from local bakers in exchange for a donation to the library. Those who wish to donate baked goods to be offered at the auction, especially pies and cakes, can volunteer by emailing andoverfol@ gmail. com.
